THE Aspen/Snowmass / Greater Roaring Fork Valley 23-24 Thread

    OMG:
    It was so good!
    3 1/2 hours DtD.
1 VX, 2 Sams and 12 Campgrounds TtB, untracked till the end.

    I was invincible!

Of course, it was Snowmass. So take that with a grain of salt.
Whatever we pay, it’s worth it!

Ajax was indeed very good, even at lunch. Ski on chairs.

You beach goer’s missed the best week of the year. Snowmass was windy up high, with about 8” midway.
Little thick at the bottom of Campground. Hopefully the sun doesn’t come out till tomorrow.

Highland Bowl early tomorrow could be the call.

Pretty standard outcome for Spring Break, but that’s life. Not too bad down here

Today was… interesting. We were too late for good snow and too early for good slush.

Managed some very deep turns in baby Ruth though

Hit Snowmass for the "powder" day on Saturday. Paid dividends to stay above mid-mountain and really had to be careful of aspect. We did a run down Hanging Valley late-ish in the day and that shit nearly kilt me.

Ajax on Sunday was OK, but conditions were a bit weird.

    Until next season, Aspen/Snowmass.

where ever you are tired and happy.

Depends on the vibe and the mountain.
Snowmass - Stew Pot and Base Camp, depending on where you are ending
Highlands - Ale House, or walk over to Willow Creek if you want to chill
Aspen-Buck for localish; Tavern for people watching, Limelight for good cheap fired pizzas.

That all said, I don't really apre.

Yeah - the only après I think I've ever done in the area is the big outdoor "patio" at Snowmass that is next to the Britt Cabin(?) - which is a pretty cool location if the weather is good.

Highlands fri and sat were excellent. Friday we showed up at 2 for a few runs after work and had full on face shots in the DT trees and untracked in the bowl. Sat filled back in with the wind and bowl was great again, everything else was a little meh. Everyone and their mom was hiking the bowl sat morning, love the weekday laps late season when there’s literally nobody out

Aspen was pretty close to ski on chairs yesterday. Up high was pow and chalk, mid was good if you were really specific, lower was great corn in the afternoon, but I was too spent to ski too much of it.

    Aspen’s empty.

Hanle and I are supposed to ski with the best boarder in town today.

    We’ll see how that goes.

I'm hoping to get back out to Hayden in the next week or two before the bottom gets bony and Castle gets juicy.

    Where’d you ski?

I’ll be sporting my Dale of Norway sweater, on Ajax again today.

A prominent Denver dentist is throwing a party at the Snowmass Wine Cabin Saturday. The VX and a Burn lift, is tentatively staying open till 6. It might be a good day for twilight powder laps, if the wind doesn’t shut it down.
