Big miss by all, but hey it happens. Surprised by the CAIC miss, they are usually spot on. They all did call the wind though.

This brought us close to average for this time of year (according to OpenSnow tracking).

I think it doesn't feel it for a few reasons, mainly:
Last year was a banger early season
A bunch of that October big storm melted/compacted/got lost to wind, etc.

Stoked to hear you’re back on snow!

I didn’t realize the 9 am Snowmass thing. That will actually affect the number of days I can squeeze in.

Working super early and taking a few laps was my MO

Thanks guys, I appreciate the friendship!

It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Getting the pain meds dialed is huge. If you’re not in pain, it’s a lot easier to do the PT.

The e-bike was also essential in keeping my sanity. I was on it seven days post op and logged a lot of miles with the hound.

RE: wedding. I have performed a dozen ceremonies ranging from ski friends in Carter Park to a coworker on home plate Coors Field where the grooms side were blowing up the dug out to some good friends at Museum Nature Science, 300 people, my younger brother, and others. All still married. I write a good speech. Just get paperwork, sign it and gtg.

Lets talk about this bike for a moment - im currently very injured and looks like skinning gonna be my go to when and if. I am happy about that as there is a lot of exploring to be done hereabouts without too much risk and without actually skiing, I'm familiar with enough of it to keep me happy. - But in a month or so I might be able to peddle - was thinking fatbike - can you tell me about range etc? maybe some suggestions?

    Where do you live?

Rio Grand is good for rehabbing and work your way up to the Bells.

The QuietKat’s are the most common since they’re in Eagle.
There’s an ad in the Snowmass Center. Guy’s selling their Jeep models from a couple of seasons ago for $3800.

Throw the stock tires away and put on some studded Wrathchilds.

The Norco’s with the big battery would be tits. I wouldn’t go cheap, they’re basically disposable and won’t get the job done.

The pass is great, but you will have to ride some road to get there.
    But it’s not very busy.
Riding around towns a blast, you just have to be careful you don’t end up a hood ornament.

I could meet you up at the barricade sometime and let you try mine.

Anyone recommend a boot fitter for a punch for length for the 1st and second toe on a Cochise and maybe an intuition remold? Bonus points if they are in the snowmass area but anyone good will do

Was Chris the one upstairs from Belly Up a few years back?

On another note…. 900 more acres this weekend and Aspen opened up Ruthie’s and some of Gent’s ridge… it is like it is ski season or something.

I’m heading to Steamboat for work next week. Driving from Denver, I may have a few hours of free time later in the week. Are there any solo touring spots/xc areas I can stop at and stretch the legs along the drive? Obviously being solo, I’m not looking to get into any terrain. Just see some sights for an hour or two.

He may have been, he’s been around for a long time.

Yes, Neil’s good. I couldn’t get the wife excited, because we’d just seen him and we’re going to Emancipator the night before and Big Head Todd on the 27th.

This storm has already out produced and this weekend will be really good!

Grounds Keepers is a beautiful thing.

First stop at 6 am. I only have to bust out a trail to the Hot Tub before skiing.

    Yeah, pretty nice report.

Seems to be an annual thing now that we get a decent storm right before Highlands opens. All the jokers and frothers will be flooding there tomorrow.

I thought that last year but it wasn’t really busy at all. Sometimes it’s fucked sometimes it’s not, hard to tell

Snowmass was really good, but got tracked fast with the limited terrain.
    Probably more terrain tomorrow.

Highlands opener is always fun and not nearly as crazy as the closer.

Aspen’s Mtn always skis good and is usually the best bet early season.

    It’s a game day call.
