k was surprisingly good today - after first impression suggested icy hardpack dominsated day
in spite of very firm base, plenty of soft bumps and trail edges to make for a fine, fine time.

sun finally came out in time for the walk back up to top of gondi.Click image for larger version.

How does the snowmaking look towards the base not superstar? Any chance for sking to the gondi Weds/Thurs?

Their weather report said temperatures were rising and they'd only make snow up top in less words which doesn't make much sense.

latest this morning on killington zone very bearish on t2b before weather breaks warm. whining about being stuck on the north ridge.

(there was a water line blowout on upper east fall saturday that put a crimp in the plans)

me, i'm glad to be skiing at this early date. and on pretty decent snow when little has fallen.

only walks back up and out on the walkway.Click image for larger version.

That was my assumption all along saw Cannon bumped theirs to Dec 2.

No reason to get mad at Killington bc at least they are trying.

I think early season is the new late season for corporate bean counters in New England its only going to be customers who have already bought season passes so best to just not open. At least at Killington its their 'thing' to open early.

It was cool to see a bit of snow on top of the pond ice. Mounted up a pair of skis for me and the dil over the weekend. Unless the pattern changes significantly looks like December will be the start for me

Edit: I see Waterville Valley is opening 11/25. I have an Indy pass so plan to burn days there and pats peak to start the season so I may ski in November after all

Solid 1 1/4 on top of 2 from the old LT parking to the top of the Notch. I went up to look at the ice, should have brought the skis instead.

Skiing? I guess it’s time to start to think about skiing now that I hauled my boat yesterday.

Good luck on the WROD, sharpen you edges, and keep your stick on the ice. Ski safe all!

I forgot how long the walk of shame back to the Gondola was at Killington. Great to be out but northridge gets old quick. There used to be better early season mountains but they've lost interest in opening ASAP under vail ownership. I guess with Superstar and FIS being #1 priority over customers it will take a serious early coldsnap for Killington to not suck pre Thanksgiving these days. There were some good Novembers in the past though.

Wildcat was so perfect right before those cnuts bought it for early season WROD turns.

Good on the IceCoast to get it going before Turkey day.
