Proper summer grooming at a ski resort would include pulling stumps, picking rocks, planting grass, in addition to having runs on a rotation to cut weeds and small conifers. It can have a bigger overall impact than snow making and pays dividends every season.

Agreed, lots of hoops to jump thru with resorts that are in national parks, but that leaves all of the resorts in B.C. able to do summer grooming and I believe it will become a growing trend at B.C. resorts, if it hasn't already.

At Sun Peaks the summer grooming program has been on going for 30+ years and it shows. One poor to start the winter season a few years ago, they had 18" of compacted snow for a base and 100 runs open with very few rocks showing and they have pulled every stump on the mountain.

LL now has all lifts spinning and starting to open backside terrain

SSV has all but GE spinning and also just starting to get more interesting terrain open

Overall better at LL, but nice to everyone setting up well for the holidays.

Good you have decent coverage down I the Bow Valley. We are painfully dry up here in Jasper 40ish cm base. SNow making is saving the lower and an interesting choice of opening the Ridge chair for some spicy natural terrain.

Yesterday. About 6-8” new up top. Full coverage to base, no rocks, skiing the new boards no problem. Maybe a couple small rope drops today, saw patrol working at end of day in cedar.

Caught two rope drops yesterday. Concussion ridge and cedar. First tracks down Concussion maybe some of the best skiing I’ve ever done. Mind blowing. Pic is from return to lizard bowl, I think it’s called corner pocket. More openings today but headed to revy.

Couldn't agree more, the terrain is underwhelming, and everything is very expensive! IMHO, Louise/Sunshine almost always have better, more reliable conditions. The infrastructure is better there too, and Banff is a much cooler town with more to do.

I've skied fernie in the rain at the bottom and it was still amazing at the top and still worth getting soaked. And that's when it's bad.

Fern is amazing. There's so much terrain that pushes my limits I'm set for life there lol. Totally agree, I was taking face shots on Christmas Day last year, and was soaked when I came down below the Bear Chair.

I would both love and hate if they upgraded the chairs, because more people. They are supposed to put a gondola down to Timberlanding but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

You guys have it good. Fernie was one of the best resorts I’ve skied. Even with the heavier snow, I’ll dream about my runs of concussion ridge. As a quasi Brit/Canadien, loved thepeople too.

Revy was ok, bad conditions to rate it.

My best day was at Fernie (chest deep under the Timber Chair) and worst day (curling rink ice in the shade and puddles/slush in the sun).

Probably more good days than bad there, but bad days have real bad.

Some fine Pow harvesting this last week in the Purcells. Touch and go on the stability. Quantity and quality gets better as you get above 6500...
