I could have Hoodoo as early as friday then bach then mhm or push it out a day or two. Daughter has state hoops game tonight, if they win they play friday, that may decide it for me. Seems like the weekend brings an additional 8-12 on top of these two storms, im sure pretty good conditions for a jong like me

Hoodoo has been pretty empty on Fridays - at least it was the last two Fridays. Lower winds Friday, plus if Green can’t run on Thursday then you’ll likely have a pow day on as well - so
personally I would advocate for that schedule. As mentioned before, Thursdays have been busier due to Thrifty Thursday lift ticket prices, but overall not nearly as busy as Saturdays, while Fridays have had much less attendance than both of those days.
Saturdays at the Doo have been pretty busy with all parking lots filling up … the only benefit is that Hodag chair may run on Saturday (winds permitting) as they don’t run it midweek, but that chair doesn’t open a ton of terrain.
Lower mountain lifts run until 9 PM Weds-Sat, and they actually service pretty fun terrain if your legs hold up, especially with natural light from 4-6 pm now it’s pretty nice to have the evening hour as the storms keep lightly refreshing things._______________________________________________

Oregon ‘23-‘24 El Niño Schralpadelic Rumble Thread
If it’s your first time in Bend you can’t really go wrong with either. The Fairfield by Pioneer Park is walking distance to The Last Blockbuster. And not a terrible walk to downtown, Deschutes restaurant, etc. Plus the riverfront, so lots to see.
But personally I’d rather be stumbling distance to Crux Fermentation project, as Crux is a parking shitshow on weekends and yet it still manages to empty my wallet nearly every time I’m in town. Also on the south side you are closer to the start of the Century 500 on weekends (oh the joy of heading up the hill on powder Saturdays along with everyone else in town). But you won’t see as much of town here unless you call for a ride to other spots._______________________________________________

There’s a Marriott at the Colorado & Century roundabout. Head start on way to the mountain and there’s some good eateries and a music venue along Century/14th and on Galveston. Much easier to access than downtown where parking can be a bitch.

I'm in Bend for a few weeks and looks like I can play hooky tomorrow morning and make it up to bachelor. It's been more than a decade since I've had a powder day at bachelor, any suggestions on which way to head / what to avoid? Is the back side going to be good?

Thanks for all the replies. Really appreciate it as some of these are such simple questions. First and only time in Oregon was 97 July i believe to visit a high school buddy. Day 1: Surfing. Day 2: Cave exploring Day 3: Timberline Day 4 MTB. Day 4 night Phish at race track. Day5-6 Phish at gorge. Day 7 Pearl Jam at Rose? Red eye home. Confident this trip will have same awesome positive memories. CHeers, Cripdog

Me thinks the Summit weather station is out of calibration. But maybe not.

-148F = -100C
Which is likely the lowest possible reading for the thermometer.
I’m doubting the recorded wind speeds as well…

The lowest natural temperature ever directly recorded at ground level on Earth is −89.2 °C (−128.6 °F; 184.0 K) at the then-Soviet Vostok Station in Antarctica on 21 July 1983 by ground measurements.

So you are curious what it’s like to ride frozen or more accurately sublimated carbon dioxide gas? Probably very similar to the heavy wind-affected pow we get here on the hood. Now you fair weather bachelor nerdy skiers get to taste what it likes to ski da hood-pow.
