It’s all fun and games until October snow makes January avalanches, even in Orygun! Keep this storm layer in mind later in the season if poking out onto alpine terrain!
If that layer doesn't get you then the tsunami will.

Got some early season Cardio in at the local hill. Stayed off the Cone. Looked a bit spicy.

Yeah, the webcams showed it pretty thin on the parking lot side of le cone. More snow than I expected on leeway though. Thank you for compacting the base

Anyone want to talk maze changes on the new MHX? I wonder how they are going to handle it? Looks like the skate from the west side to the east side of the maze to get a shorter line is dead. Which honestly, I'm fine with.

i'm hoping they set up like Pine Marten
but who knows at this point?

will this impending atmospheric river do anything for our snowpack?
with a storm track out of the SE, it seems unlikely

I couldn't even tell wtf I was looking at in that pic. But yeah, I'm always in favor of only having one point of entry.

I think they're taking the RFID gates off the old 4 gate, and putting them on the new 6 gate. I hoped they would have updated they're RFID gates, they suck, always breaking.

Don’t hold up the PM lift maze as some pinnacle of engineering achievement.

If you’re on the far right of a maze line, there’s barely enough room to get your 185cm skis out of line and into the load alley.

Once you get into the loading alley, it’s a tight fit for four with all of the skis sticking out of the maze lines.

Then there’s that 180* turn before the scanner, where the guy on the far left has to step-turn and drag his bases across the inside fence supports, and the guy on the far right has to get around his three chairmates without dinging his bases on the outside fence supports.

I'll take it even with those obstacles

i stopped riding the front side on pow days because the line has been so shitty esp when they can't get vista rolling
a 25 min line for 1100 vert is stupid

    the 6pack will certainly help
and not all the riders are headed to the pow on non-Vista days anyway so that part of competing for faceshot runs is no worse

I've been OK with the two sides; if anyone wanted the east side enough they could work for it. I don't like the last couple years with four lanes on the left and four on the right so things completely break down when there is no one directing traffic. My only experience with a six pack was Schwitzer on a slow day. No idea how best to make it work.

Bachy lift line management is something that MHM should aspire to. This based on my most recent bachy trip which was almost 5 fuckin years ago, what?!

Anyway, MHM has been doing a good job trying to close the gap

Maybe? My experience with lifts upgraded to a six-pack is that things are gang-banged into chunder that much faster. I expect the same with the new MHX6x
