    Safe early season CShoe.

If I can remember I'll put together a weather links page. With Wayne sadly passed it may be a useful one-stop place for wx and conditions monitoring

Is Fitz supposed to be up and running for opening day?

Fitz would certainly be nice as an additional upload/download option early in the season. Downloading on the Whistler gondola at the end of the day can suck big time.

Is everyone afraid to jinx it? Things looking pretty great compared to a week ago.

Obviously it's been on the dry side for the last few days, but at least the weather has been good for snowmaking. The WRODs will be in great shape.

Welp, at least the biking is still good in Pemberton and Squamish.

An awful lot of sunny weather lately for this time of year.

I've noticed the snow guns are blasting away on the Rendezvous camera, but not at Roundhouse. Seems strange. with the temp well below freezing.

Looks like cold high pressure settling in after a tiny bit of snow tomorrow. Not ideal. Wondering about chance this facets out what has fallen and creates a problem layer low in the early season snowpack. But yeah, Seymour has been going off as well for biking, so there's that. Still getting in good road rides too.

    Unofficial update:

Low tide/WROD conditions confirmed on Whistler.

Expect to be downloading from the Roundhouse.

It looks like conditions will permit open avalanche sign lines to tour above the Roundhouse.

I read an article in Pique mentioning the new Fitz chair won't be ready.

An 8-pack offloading to the base of a quad seems like a math problem.

It certainly isn't ideal, but actually Garbo has a much higher capacity than old Fitz (2800 per hour vs. 1850), so it might not be the goat rope that you'd think it would be.

Fitz upgrade is all for the bike park, skiing is secondary for it.

Anyone know if dress like Santa day is happening this year?
I found nothing on their website (for 2023) & got what looks like a soft letdown:

“We do not have any information regarding this unfortunately. Keep an eye on our website and socials.”

Anyone else with a more hopeful/less corporate carrot to dangle?

Been a few seasons MIA skiing interior forest fairy dust fluff pow. Hoping to get some mermaid crud on my sticks this year on the cheap

^ I'm pretty sure they still did Santa day last season, so hopefully Vail hasn't killed it off yet. I'm sure they would have if it wasn't a nice PR event for local media.

Here's the official opening day announcement:

Not exactly anything too shocking with the amount of snow on the mountains right now.

I was at an opening day many years ago. It was Blackcomb only and there must have been 5k skiers that day. All the folks that I shared a chairlift ride with were from Whistler, not Vancouver or out of town. It snowed overnight, albeit, wet snow, but there were less than a thousand on the hill for day 2. So, I guess bagging opening day was a thing, maybe it still is.

Definitely still a thing. Overheard one young female being stoked to be working during the day so she can just go straight to apres after work.

Wasn't it Garbo next after JC for a six pack? Would relieve the winter congestion that happens on rare occasion. Regardless, new Fitz is a good thing this year, shiny new chair may draw in some tourist volume on busy days away from the gondola.
