When it comes to 90’s freeskiing, are the Schrab brothers worthy of an honorable mention?

Sadly, a few of those characters are no longer with us...Jack Hannan & Jamie Pierre RIP. But was it ever not cool? Of course not.
I think this thread needs a Casey Cane productions link. Your flicks were the epitome of underground 90's free skiing imho.

I just Googled it. The Swarm dropped in 2000. I'm willing to count it if y'all are.

I still have mine. Greasy as fuck. I should probably bleach it in the bathtub.

Also, 666… We rode the lift a few times together at KW. I love watching your POV vids with modern Moments being skied on lines I used to ski. Looks sick. I second some of your old vids being posted here.

I walked away from skiing in the 80's. Not my choice, my parents divorced and sold our home in King's Beach. I struggled to figure life out. I probably skied 3 days in the 90's, then picked up a snowboard around 1998. Snowboarder for the next 20 years and had a lot of great memories. About 4 years back I grabbed a set of skis to teach my kids. Immediately I was smitten. I went from being a kid on straight skis in the 80's to freestyle/all mountain shaped skis as a dad. Now I feel like I missed 2 decades of great skiing. At 44 I'm making up for lost time and loving it.

Thanks for the memories, guys. Fun thread to read and some great videos.

2000 is the last year of the 90s

This was in a 90's skiing movie. I think it was a RAP film. Rap films, we need some of that in here too. I loved those movies.

    Thanks for the kind words!

RAP films - I have and collect all of them on VHS. I still have saved eBay searches to get better copies of flicks like Carving the White, The White Room, Snow Drifters etc. I think the song above is from Snowdrifters. Last rumor I heard in the mid 200's while in NZ, a guy said they started making porn vids lol.

Actually, I collect all 90's VHS ski flicks except for Warren Miller...and yes my wife thinks I'm a hoarder for physical media. Well, that's completely true. Its a weird transitional period where things started going DVD in the late 90s. Being most films in the mid 90s, they are too old to ever go to DVD and never went to streaming services. Also, I think a lot of the music rights expired because if you watch Groove on DVD, there's sections of the film that have a totally different soundtrack.

Casey’s memories line up closely with mine and we’ve shared a beer on the Alpine deck in the late 90’s…I think you were in law school or thinking about it at the time? The Clint Fiala, Rodd Adams, Baker and Carlos days.

My twin brother and I were lucky enough to be gifted Walls of Freedom for HS graduation in 96 and became pen pals with the Gaffneys. They toured us in December of 96 around Squaw, connected us with Shane and Kreitler. We bought gear off Shane and promptly turned Bro Brah heads at Alpine with our Sessions gear! Still have Shane’s Jamie Lynn Sig jacket in my closet. Amazing era.

Years later, I competed in the 99’ North American Freeskiing Championships at Kirkwood and totally sucked!

Such good memories and with a 3 and 5 year old, I get just as much joy shredding Subway (at Alpine) with the as first tracks on the Buttress.

    90's Freeskiing

    Creeker- are we bros?

My name is Nathan. Perhaps you have previously referred to me as Neck Deep. I think I am friends with you and your twin. I think we share the same KW comp history. I believe you both moved to AK. Am I mistaken?

I don’t want to play the anonymous game anymore around tgr. If you want to know me, or remember our childhood… I can be seen again here—

If you have no idea who I am, and I am completely mistaken, then I apologize.

That video is a fucking tragedy.

And one of the greatest skis I ever rolled on was the K2 Kreitler with the raven on the tip.

Had that exact ski. With the same biometric prerelease toe. Ahhhh. Good times.

Can’t be too spendy at goodwill. Someone needs to buy those.
