Haha, that was my first thought. I went heli skiing a few times in NZ years ago and it was cheap AF. I will say that Silverton's heli skiing is most likely a better product though.

I just booked Guided March 28,29,30 with a free heli run!
White Sunday deals were better but I won't be rehabbed that early in the season.

I've skied two days at Silverton, one with sideways puking snow and another in Spring-like conditions.
Both fun (storm day was great, but couldn't hike very high; bad visibility).

The guide on that day was straight up Drill Instructor at the base:
"There are no easy ways off of this mountain!
You guys all got that move?!?(points to the choke under the chairlift)
If you want to huck cliffs we can find those.
But if you get hurt on this mountain, it will be at LEAST two hours until you receive medical attention.
    SO:

    DO.
    NOT.
    GET.
    HURT!!!

    Fun day that.

Just booked an air BnB in town for March 28-31, my Bachelor Party, going unguided + a heli drop (hopefully).

Guide wise we got super lucky with a McCall jumper by the name of Nate Giles. No ego just hiked the shit out of us and we loved it. 1st day was puking and we went right to the high alpine and dropped a colie in great snow. One of the random 4 that joined our group was bitching to me about being on teles. Got dropped on the hike and we had to wait then said he was going first. Blew his knee on the 1st turn. Karma and the San Juans are nothing to fuck with. Still the best trip I have traveled for, terrain, snow, and the Silverton vibe. Need to get back!

My 1st trip to Silverton (2002?) I was also in a guided group with a bitchy telemark skier.

He had all sorts of trouble with the breakable crust in Tiger.

The transformation is amazing, it was pretty ratty last week and Thursday, but the damp storm with upside right cake came in. skiing is just killer now. Blower top smoking it up.

Good timing indeed. Looks like the last 2/3 days have been the best of the whole season. Took some time this year, but things are looking up for a nice February and spring.

Glad to hear you'll be around for a little while longer Buster. I am headed back from Mexico in a few days and was hoping to not miss you. I am not spending any time at the hill right now, but will be in the shop all weekend. Drop by and say hi.

And that's true for any Mag coming to visit. I am the only ski tech in town, so I am pretty easy to find.

Sure am. I'll be back to work on Thursday. A colleague of mine was in town last week covering for me. Sounds like he hit the mountain yesterday and scored big time.

I’m sprinting back from Baja hoping to beat the closures. Fingers crossed haha. If you’re coming down this weekend and are planning on taking RMP I’d make other plans.
