Disgusting Display of Wealth and Arrogance in Aspen
So the Chairman of the Aspen Institute is bankrolling this wedding in the LIttle Annies basin on the back of Aspen Mountain. They have proceeded to build a 27,000 foot temporary structure (that is bigger than the Sundeck on top of Aspen Mountain. They have destroyed the area. In addition, the wedding planner tried to order 500 trees from a local landscaper to be put in on Fri and then taken out on Sunday. Please pass this along. This is a disgusting display of excess and wealth.

It's aspen. If you don't want rich people spending tons of money on mostly stupid shit, move to another fucking town. Their money, their choices.
Obligatory bullshit: Are you just jealous?

All you had to say was "aspen"
Lift skiing (and even most backcountry trailheads these days) is typically a "disgusting display of wealth and arrogance"...

Since when do very nice people destroy a mountain top for a party? I suspect your definition is different than mine. While I trust they do not kick puppies, or spit on their servants, they do, apparently, flaunt their wealth in rather disgusting ways. Assuming, and it's only an assumption, that the parents of the bride are actively engaged in teh planning and execution of this event, I don't think nice people run policy think tanks that supposedly fight for social justice and equality, and sustainable development, and then build and dismantle 27,000 square foot structures with 500 temporary trees for a party. Mr. Steel's public persona is at odds with his private conduct, and that ain't "nice people" IMHO. That's just another hypocrite.

See, if the Occupy movement wanted to really have an impact, they would hit somewhere people like Mr. Steel would notice it, like by attending the wedding en masse.

I hate widespread, but that fact is this. It is private land, but the road is public. They are staging this shit show out at Buttermilk. The truck trips up and down Castle Creek and LIttle Annies is mind boggling. Who cares? I do and so do many others in the valley because this guy who is the Chairman of the Institute, used county loopholes to destroy a piece of land that gets tons of use in the winter and summer.
There is talk of running tons of moto's up there during the ceremony, as well as dumping huge piles of snow on the shaded curves in Danville to disrupt the procession of transportation bringing the guests up there.
That is all.

Hey, remember when those eco terrorists burnt down a few lodges at Vail a few years ago?

So you don't like it when people use public roads?
Here is my personal apology to you for driving across the interstate system over the last few days:
ETADIK.
It's not like they cleared out low income housing or bulldozed a national forest for this.
Nothing like trying to ruin for others what you can't have. That will show everyone who is on the right side of this.
Trucking in snow has got to be up there in the list of stupid route denial plans.

Where is Hunter S. when we need him? Dig him up, give him a bottle of Wild Turkey, a gram of coke, and a nice firearm, and send him up there. That would give him reason to live.
