How about the Ski Loft? I need to have them do some quick work on my big bike anyhow. Also, I have a Tundra pickup that'll work for shuttling.

Oh, and just to make this post relevant to this thread, er, I'll be at Squaw this year and possibly Rose, too. Sorry Kirkwood. It was good while it lasted.

Can't make it tomorrow, got softball. Next time.

And I'll be splitting time between Rose & Squaw this winter.

Noice! Glad to see that the name has stuck (Wu-Tang Clan Patch).

Not sure what (or where) the Parking Lot Patches are though...

Word to Dark Star (that's how I lay out my seasons, more or less...and me'n Vets hiked to Roundtop in that new snow last October--brrrrrr!).

In reference to 666's mention of "The Patch(es)", below is what the remaining one (there's a few more lurking further up Forestdale Divide, but they, too, are melting quick) looked like this past Wednesday...The official/legit Patch is getting burnt. It's almost broken into 2 patches and the choke holding them together is completely covered in dirt. The bottom half is runnelled to hell and back, but the top half, while short (3 turns max, unless you do hella tight hop turns) is buttery smooth.

Sinecure should have more up-to-date beta (from today and tomorrow) unless he was unable to find it w/o a guide.

There are at least 4 skiable patches around roundtop right now... the little one behind the lake is the one I call the skate park patch but I thought someone recently called it the parking lot. The snow is nice and smooth again after being frozen 3 nights inna row

The wu is awesome right now with a tiny chutish entrance dead center... the next one skiers left of that is the largest though... there is a sweet 20-30 foot air in the lower part of the crescent if your feeeling rowdy too!

Hadn't been on in a while and thought I'd better post my August stoke before the calendar switched....and whoa...I felt lost for a minute there....no more 09/10 thread! So I guess this is my first stoke of the 10/11 season. Woot woot.

Mad props to vets for the beta and I am sure some of these patches are the ones that were mentioned above.

Yes, I believe that Parking Lot = Driveway.

Though the name is flexible depending on how much snow is there. For the most part it's always about the size of a large driveway and the pitch isn't much steeper than one, either.

Well, I got in my August and September turns. I had a job interview yesterday in Oakland that went way longer than expected. They told me I'd be meeting the President of the company from 8-9 and a brief meeting with the VP Sales after that. Turned out I met President, VP Research, VP Sales, VP Marketing. Didn't leave until 12:45 and had a 1:00 phone interview with another officer of the company. Finally got to Kirkwood around 5:30 and up to the patches around 6. Just barely made it before sunset. I skied the patch that is right next to a trail map of the Pacific Crest Trail at Forestdale Divide. Not sure what it is called. Got about 3-5 turns before it ended abruptly. This morning it was rock hard snow. Very sketchy with the abrupt ending, but got turns nonetheless. I've skied in August in Chile before, but never in September before.

Pics of the patch with my tracks and my skis drying by the sign near where I parked/camped.

Feels like autumn down on the coast. Clear, cool mornings with an off shore breeze. Hurricanes wrapping up the east coast. And another few troughs in the forecast over the next few weeks, with one possible stronger one a week plus out. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy. Can't stop thinking about those lines I did not hit last season.

Dookey went to check it out and verified the existence of the patch but was unable to find a clean route to it that did not involve hours of hiking.

I have a call in to a friend that is a rec officer for the USFS in that area. Hopefully he has some ideas on Lola.

Sweet, let me know what comes up! We probably wont be chasing September turns for another week or two. I have never summited Lola but I did catch many fish from a stream on its flank when hiking the PCT in the area several years ago.

I will have to check a map because that may work. You can actually drive up the Jackson Meadows rd, head south right before Weber lake and find a place to park just off the PCT. It has been a few years but I remember the Lola trail not being to far?

On the drive to/from Kirkwood's Chili Cookoff and Beer Tasting it looked like Roundtop/Sisters still offers multiple choices for patch skiing. So, today I'll be heading up with dookey67 and MJ to get some September turns in. Beta/Photos and/or TR to follow.
