Tahoe Weather Forecasts & Snow Conditions + Backcountry Info
RaccoonFace - Thanks for starting this subscription worthy thread again for 2010-11.
I like the Hot Shotz! section idea with continually updated best photos. You may need to reserve another few posts for this section for Hot Shotz! Part 2 and Hot Shotz! Part 3
In Post #1 for the description of Post 4, consider renaming it WEATHER FORECASTS & SNOW CONDITIONS + BACKCOUNTRY INFO
In Post #4 in the Weather Forecasts & Snow Conditions section, please add as the 3rd listing in the section right after Dweeb Report -
Tahoe Weather Discussion www.tahoeweatherdiscussion.com
In Post #4, please add a new section at the bottom called BACKCOUNTRY INFO and in this section add the following listings -

5:49 on Sun. 8/29 and it's been hailing ball bearing sized nuggets for the past 4 minutes in T/D.
out of curiosity, does it really count as the start of a new season if: 1. the snow that fell on 8/28 didn't stick to the ground and actually accumulate and 2. due to #1, there wasn't enough for anybody to actually ski on new snow?
just askin'...
carry on you wayward sons (and daughters)!
PS
the hail stopped a few moments ago and has already melted...

Damn. Missed page 1 post. Effin work getting in the way of life. Getting very stoked for skiing. If I wasn't working the next 19 days straight, I would be out looking for turns. I can still see a solid long patch on Mount Lola (north of Truckee). It felt like winter today. Cranked on heat for the first time this season.
Thanks RF for setting up the new thread. Its been 6 weeks since I skied last so it must be a new season.

This afternoon at 8000'.
Sadly, it was only hail (but a crapload of it).

I'm with 666!
I dunno about the rest of you, but I skied 4 days this week on solid 10-12 turn patches between Carson Pass and Mono Lake. There's still quite a bit of this--or what some of you are prematurely dubbing "last"--season's snow lurking about and to that end, 2009/2010 is still VERY much in effect!
And Buyer's Guides? C'mon, Flexon, nobody around here reads that tabloidal tripe anymore, do they?
:O
But it is getting cold. Like G2A, I, too, had to crank on the heat this morning 'cause my toes were cold.
Jim S.: solid stoke on the lake front and sunset action!

hey WTF?!?!?!?
I thought I was the only one around here who is allowed to harsh other folks' mellows?
Oh yeah, I went mountain biking in Oakland last week. Looks like the left air bag is working fine under moderate duress, just some minor kinks to work out where one of the slices was made but I'm now on the way to getting my ass back in shape for the season. I'll have to put a can of Fix-a-Flat in my winter gear prep shopping list but otherwise looking forward to seeing you folks back in poofy gear with Raccoon eyes and Tri-clops getups in a few months._______________________________________________
