TR: April Showers Bring Spring Powder

    Epoch: April 8, 10, 11

    Dominion: Kirkwood & surrounding vicinity

    Conditions:

Participants: thefrush, hop, Tyrone Shoelaces, AKbruin, Arty50, davep, lph, S.P.C., Jrosen32, dblatto, ShawnB, tahoe_rider, powdork, tahoetrash, Ottime, pogs4ever, etc...

Image Capturers: thefrush, hop, AKbruin, tahoetrash, powdork, Ottime, pogs4ever

    Muzak:

    Breakdown:

A storm rolled in midweek and deposited a foot of snow Tuesday night, and continued to sprinkle through the end of the week. Skiing in-bounds Wednesday and Friday may as well have been out-of-bounds with how empty it was, and when the crowds came on Saturday, it was out through the gates. With skier666's arm left somewhere behind in Florida, it was up to us to capture the MOMENTS.

    Wednesday & Friday:

Scattered snow showers, zero wind, empty mountain.

ShawnB gets all Helen Keller in the Palisades.

    Photo: powdork

thefrush follows with much less style.

    Photo: powdork

ShawnB points it through one of Norm's nostrils.

thefrush doesn't think this snow is snotlike at all.

    The fun continues on Friday...

    Photo: powdork

Ottime puts the Praxis Pow Boards to work.

thefrush dances through a rock garden on Vista.

    Photo: Ottime

thefrush slots it through a bush in Thunder Saddle.

    Photo: Ottime

And flashes his bases through chop on the runout.

    Photo: Ottime

These folks prefer to slide on melted snow.

Those old Markers give out on the in-run.

    So close...

    Just like surfing.

    Skinny skis can float too.

The guy copying skier666's clothing colors gets another shot, and sticks it.

    Saturday:

These guys were on hand to make our experiences more enjoyable.

    Our various tools:

AKbruin makes first lines into Diagonal Chute.

The maggot collective assembles in Temple of Doom area.

powdork sends it on skier's right side.

    Photo: tahoetrash

    Jrosen airs to tail scrapeage.

    AKbruin points it.

    Arty drops in.

    And hits a double.

    hop, hops.

lph slides into a steep line.

Loses his ski in the gut, but points it to safety on one ski.

S.P.C. gets all styley with a double.

    And makes it look easy.

Tyrone Shoelaces becomes professional ski retriever.

Billygoats the 196s to get the job done.

    Reeeaaaaaach.

    davep gets airborn.

Jrosen points a line through Soul Searcher.

And flashes his MOMENTS at mach speed.

    hop gets all alpine-turny.

At this point, my cameras settings got changed and I didn't notice, losing multiple pics to massive over exposure, including Jrosen skiing V Tree, which anyone can tell you was sick.

Arty is blinded by the over exposure on the Spur.

S.P.C. wonders where all the contrast went.

Settings adjusted in time for hop to drop a knee on sunbaked pow.

    thefrush submarines on the Spur.

    Photo: hop

Loves this shaded wintery pow, doesn't love the sunbaked glop he's about to hit.

    Photo: hop

Jrosen drops into some crazy gnar.

And once again flashes his bases on the exit.

General mood at the end of the day? Stoked.

Nice bud. I'm guessing a pair of Dukes are in your future.

FKNA Sick. That shot going into Diagonal is juicy. As well as the single ski Temple slayage.

Frush - good to see you got out to the Spur. It is a sweet line. My verbal directions do not match a guided tour.

Saturday just look delicious. I remember looking up at the Temple on Friday, thinking it looked nicely filled and I wanted to throw myself off of it - but with the Saddle so untracked, that never happened. Nice to see it thoroughly slayed in a matter of minutes. I can imagine peeps coming over to 4 looking up a bit and thinking "what the fuck are all the flashing colors over there?"

^ ^ ^ Boy did I fuck this up by going to Alpine on Saturday...

Tried to be friendly to some old friends; apparently they are not my friends but mah frenemies. Fuck you, jerks!!

Great post, Frush. Nice, nice pics to all the many who slutted, and especially those who sacrificed their turns to snap the deliciously sleeeeazy pics of said ho-bag skankz. You, sirs, you band of brohams, are what makes this li'l passle of ones and zeros so addicting. Awesome.

Long board day: I will have my revenge.

Touring gear probably not, beacon/shovel/probe most definitely. I still like my lift assist. But you reminded me of something I forgot to mention, this was my first time skiing beyond the ropes! Couldn't have been more awesome.

When I saw that the line skier's right of v-tree went and I missed it, I wanted to commit seppuku with my ski pole.
