Euro Ski Poll: Which reort would you recommend?
A question for those that have had the pleasure of skiing many different resorts in Europe.
If you had 1 resort to choose in Europe which would it be and why? The Resort must include terrain for all abilities and provide the "full" European skiing expereince.
Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

There's many many many great resorts that would give you the full 'european' experience, and some would still offer extreme terrain, great snow, and some serious ski mountaineering, depending on what you're looking for (thinking of the obvious ones here...).
I've personally skied the Dolomites for almost 10 years of my life when I was a kid. Defnitely one of the most beautiful places on earth!
The skiing is good to great and there's lots of ski mountaineering to be done. The snow is hit-or-miss. However, one thing is sure - you'll be getting the full European experience! Look for places like La Villa, Arabba, Corvara, Cortina d'Ampezzo, San Cassiano ... I've stayed in each one of those places for weeks at a time and loved it! The flair, the culture, the people, the food, the ambience - definitely European. With a "Dolomiti Superski" ski pass you can connect from any of those towns to any other town in the area for almost unlimited skiing.
Good luck.

I'd recommend the search function. This question is asked about once every other month.
That said, the candidates will include:
Cham
Verbier
St. Anton
Bourg St. Maurice (access to Savoie resorts of Val d'Isere, Tignes, Les Arcs, La Plagne, etc)
Briancon
La Grave
Alagna + Monte Rosa Ski.
among others....(sorry Roo, then again, you'd probably just leave it out, huh?)Last edited by Buster Highmen; 06-11-2008 at 10:17 AM.

It's hard to look beyond Kitzbuhel. It gets no snow, but in many ways that is integral to the European skiing package.

Is the full european skiing experience SFW ? Do you have any pics ?
(Buster : I wouldn't recommend Chamonix or la Grave "for all abilities...")"Typically euro, french in particular, in my opinion. It's the same skiing or climbing there. They are completely unfazed by their own assholeness. Like it's normal." - srsosbso

Surely its Courcheval??
Mind you as you're in London you can probably get the same experience burying your face in snow and ogling Russian hookers in a Mayfair nightclub.

the obvious choice is Zermatt, preferrably in December.
and by "full" european skiing experience, you are talking about it being expensive, crowded, and no snow? right?

Ripzalot forgot to mention the Zermat Speciality: seeing elderly ladies in full fur outfit carrying a rather small dog under their arms while out shopping.
That is the cherry on the icing on the cake of the European skiing experience.
