TR: Deep Pow and Bad Landings w/ video* - 12/22/07
*video is on my website as I cannot embed it on the forum
Website TR w/ music & video: http://www.jakecast.com/2007/12/22/s...-bad-landings/
location: Snowbird, UT
date: 12/22/07
Blue skies, sunshine, and deep pow. That was today's conditions at the bird. Absolutely awesome.
Me.
Dan.
LCC in all her glory.
Mineral Basin waiting game.
I managed to find some powder.
Dan headed in a more vertical direction.
It was time to make some bad decisions with Dan as a test dummy.
Me sending a cliff in Mineral Basin whose takeoff redefined sketchy.
Dan showing off.
Dan impersonating distance ski jumpers in the Rasta Chutes.
Me forgetting to untie my arms from the trees behind me in Rasta Chutes.
All in all an awesome day.

Nice, looks awesome up there.
A word of caution. Mini-chamonix ( my name for those lines under the baldy X) is rocky as shit. One of the rockiest places on the hill. if you probed that 1st landing more power to you, but that place is sketch. Rock are hit in there with well over a 100" base.
not trying to rain on your parade! Looks like a ton of fun.
be safe....

No actually.. my bad.
The 'real' Chamonix chutes are located on the south side of Baldy... as you are hiking to baldy summit via snowbird.
Hence.. mini Chamonix.. right under baldy express... that's what I call it anyway.
I looked at the photos wrong... but ... rocky under the bottom of mbx too. I mean it's rocky everywhere at the bird, but that place is kinda notorious.Last edited by pointedem; 12-22-2007 at 10:10 PM.

Hey guys I saw you dropping that stuff from the line and thought to myself what are those fools doing. There was bigger safer stuff elsewhere on the mountain that no one had touched today. Be careful out there and spend some time learning the mountain we don't need any hurt maggs. Geez that makes me sound like a damn know-it-all.... and really I am just as guilty.

cameraman needs to learn to follow the action on the videos, though. missed the landings and run-outs on most of 'em!

The windows on your car must be really large, as you were rolling them up all day...

hey jake
why did you delete your thread with those gnarly pics from this weekend??? You know the one where you were begging for replies? Crying that no one was commenting about your radness and then getting your panties in a bunch when people started to call you a beater..... what happened to it? it was titled the daily grind
