Skied Highlands this morning. Everything was $$$.

Easily one of my best days this year. Even Traynor's delivered.

G6 was halfway decent yesterday.

Looks like 3-4” on the stake and no wind. Enough to take Thing 1 out for a powder morning.

We’re in a mountain town. Call a snow day for big storms only. Summit County calls one every 10 years. This is the result of a superintendent from Pennsylvania, where delays are the norm.

Ridiculous. They’ll be getting another email about this one.

Was in Utah for the weekend. Sounds like some great skiing… but a dust layer as well?

Apparently they didn’t call today because they thought the storm was a bust despite every forecast for a week calling for Tuesday day to be the main stormy period.

Nuking on Ajax. Dense and deep if you ski the right runs. Icy bumps are lurking if you don't know where to go.

Pulled in to Tiehack at 10:30. Lot wasn’t full. No lines. Busted out a half dozen runs with #2 in 2 hours. Great day.

They just replaced the haul cable and I haven't heard any mention of it. It's gotta be another 10-15 years out, don't ya think?

It opened around 11:15. Dense snow on Ajax. Deep enough up top and windbuff around mid mountain.

It skied really deep up high on Ajax. Just gotta watch out for the VWs underneath.

Supposedly, Snowmass has 8” up top. Ajax now has 7” up top.

That’s fantasyland.

I was all around Buttermilk this morning and almost nothing was groomed last night. We need snow.

I imagine this weekend will be a different story with 40 deg temps and sun.

That was much needed. Nice and light - perfect for skiing with the kids.

Long shot is a few minute hike up a cat track. The bowl is 45min-1hr for most kids. Quite different. That said, most advanced kids around here can hike and ski it around age 8.

I wouldn't worry...

It was only part of the route last year due to weather. The normal route is across the ridge from Burnt Mountain to West Buttermilk.

Your 6 year old will ski better terrain at Highlands than at Buttermilk. They rarely take 6 year olds on Tiehack. My experience is that the instructor will be better as well.

Level 4 - Buttermilk...

Need some more soon or it’s going to be a rough holiday season.

I would guess they’ll be a lot of openings tomorrow.

Never seen a forecast miss by this much. 12” Sat- Mon, huh?

T to B is open. By next week, they'll likely have the couch, Copper, Back of Bell, etc. Hopefully Snowmass will have some real terrain by then as well.

No T to B and Elk Camp only on Snowmass. Rough opening day. There's quite a bit of snow 500 ft up the mountain just not enough down low.
