I think the steerer tube would be too short since I have an XL frame. It also sounds like a fork upgrade is the wrong path ... maybe need to save for a new(er) bike.

I think 30 is too big for you. I wear a 13 or 14 shoe (depends on the brand) and am in a 29.5 Dragon 100 and almost think it is too big.

The skis sound great, but they remind me a bit of my old K2 Velocity 203's. Great at speed, great at busting through stuff, but not so great for cruising.
